Play Australia is delighted to support the work of theTouched by Olivia Foundation, a charity established in Sydney, NSW to give children healthier and happier lives realized through two key initiatives:

1.Vascular Birthmarks Research and Support

This is enabling Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick to become a centre of global expertise in the area of Vascular Birthmarks (the area of disease that Olivia died from). The focus is providing families access to information, access to support networks and medical experts and maybe, even one day, a cure. With a commitment by the Foundation of $450,000 over 3 years, a Fellowship was established in 2009 and will most definitely help save lives; and

2. Livvi’s Place Playgrounds

The Foundation is working with local councils, communities and corporations to upgrade and/or build playgrounds which are developed in accord with best practice principles giving children regardless of ability the opportunity to play together, side by side.  These playgrounds will be called “Livvi’s Place”.

The first “Livvi’s Place” was opened at Timbrell Park, NSW in 2009 and a number of additional playgrounds are under development.

It is the dream of the Foundation to raise funds to work with councils, designers and suppliers, to develop quality outdoor playspaces across Australia to enable all children, regardless of individual abilities to participate in outdoor play with their friends, families and community members. Play Ausralia supports this dream, and will work with the Foundation to bring about its realization.
